DevOps Engineer

I'm Arjun Kanojia, a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer and Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) based in New Delhi, India. I build the AWS and Kubernetes platforms product teams ship on. At Deutsche Telekom Digital Labs I ran the multi-region infrastructure for the FIFA World Cup 2026 (10,000+ RPS, zero downtime) and help build the company's internal developer platform. What I do

Platform engineering, DevOps and SRE

Three overlapping jobs, one goal: let product teams ship fast on infrastructure that doesn't fall over.

Platform engineer

I build internal developer platforms: Backstage self-service templates, GitOps with Argo CD and Kargo, and multi-tenant Amazon EKS with observability built in, so teams onboard and deploy without raising infrastructure tickets.

DevOps engineer

I automate the path from commit to production: GitLab CI and Jenkins pipelines, Helm, Terraform modules with remote state and drift detection, and AWS infrastructure as code, including agentic AI that helps create and maintain it.

Site reliability engineer

I keep systems up under real load: SLOs and alerting, k6 load testing, Karpenter and KEDA autoscaling, multi-region disaster recovery with backup-restore and failover drills, and on-call for events like the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Platforms built to take real traffic

Design it, automate it, run it. Each project starts with the result, then how I got there.

FIFA World Cup 2026 infrastructure

→ 10,000+ RPS at peak · zero downtime

Designed and ran the multi-region platform behind the tournament's digital services, then carried on-call through live matches.

  • Multi-region DR with automated backup and restore
  • k6 distributed load tests to size the platform before match days
  • Pre-scaled EKS and non-EKS tiers, dynamic autoscaling at peak
  • Spot and Reserved Instance strategy to hold cost down

Internal developer platform

→ onboarding without infra tickets

Helped build a global platform where teams onboard, deploy and promote services without filing infrastructure tickets.

  • Backstage self-service templates
  • GitOps with Argo CD, promotions with Kargo
  • Multi-tenant EKS with default observability

CI/CD consolidation

→ ~70% less pipeline overhead

Led the move of 300+ Jenkins pipelines onto self-hosted GitLab runners on EKS Spot, deployed with Helm.

  • One pipeline standard for every team
  • Lower runner cost on Spot

EKS upgrades & hardening

→ 3 Kubernetes versions in ~2 months

Kubernetes 1.33 → 1.36 across prod and non-prod, with change requests and rollback plans.

  • 44 images, 1,000+ pods moved to ECR with scan-on-push
  • TLS 1.3, customer-managed KMS keys, CISA KEV fixes

SOC 2 healthcare platform

→ 30-minute MTTR in DR drills

Ran 20+ EKS clusters for US health insurers including Aflac and Renaissance.

  • Multi-region HA for EKS, MongoDB, Elasticsearch
  • Karpenter and KEDA autoscaling

Terraform registry & AWS networking

→ one module registry for 5+ client environments

A versioned internal module registry, plus the network stacks it deploys.

  • VPC, EKS, RDS, MongoDB and Elasticsearch modules, each with its own release pipeline
  • Remote state, locking, monthly drift detection
  • Transit Gateway, site-to-site and client VPN, private endpoints

Real-time search pipeline

→ search indexes updated live

A self-hosted change-data-capture pipeline that keeps search indexes fresh as data changes.

  • MongoDB Change Streams → 3-node HA consumers → Kafka → Logstash → Elasticsearch
  • Full reindex and live incremental updates
